Blitz epitomizes the philosophy of “Breeding the best to the best”. . He is the result of a breeding between INT CH, VC Feld Jaegers Berit Gore MH and DC/AFC, 3X NSTRA CH Gamble’s Odyssey Fritz MH, RD, VCX, UT II. His pedigree is full of proven performance dogs with five generations of AKC Dual Champions on the Sire’s side and five generations of NAVHDA Versatile Champions on the Dam’s side.
During bird and gun introduction, the field trial influence in Blitz was evident from the very first training session. When I released him, Blitz immediately shifted to high gear and in just moments had run through the bird field and disappeared into the woods 600 yards away without ever looking back. Several hours later, I managed to get my hands on this four-month-old puppy but only after he had toured every field and woods in the area. Blitz’s desire and drive was evident, however the challenge was to slow him down without negatively affecting his drive and desire. Once Blitz found a few birds in the field, he quickly made the connection. Blitz required no introduction to the water and showed strong natural retrieving and backing instincts as a young dog. He accepts training well with little pressure and retains the lessons with minimal maintenance. He is one of those dogs that can switch roles easily from a performance gun dog and predator afield to a mellow and relaxed lap dog in the house.
Blitz earned a NAVHDA Natural Ability Prize I with the maximum score of 112 points at six months old. In training for Utility Testing, Blitz was simply a natural when it came to the duck search. He charges the water, is a strong swimmer, and overcomes any obstacle. The normal areas we used to train duck searches quickly became too small for Blitz, as he would expand endlessly in search of a duck. At the St. Croix NAVHDA 2011 fall test Blitz earned a Utility Prize I with 199 points.
Blitz was shown in the IABCA show ring by a nine-year-old handler and earned his International Champion title. His excellent confirmation along with style and presence helped him in winning Best of Breed and Best of Group to advance to the Best of Show Ring at the Purina Farms Event Center in St. Louis, MO.
In the fall of 2012 Blitz participated in the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Invitational in Iowa. Tough weather conditions on his testing day, and the double marked retrieve proved more than he could overcome. In the field, his drive and competitive spirit will be an asset once tempered with greater maturity. Blitz is a very young dog to test at this advanced level, and we are proud of his accomplishments having earned the title or not. Blitz is our newest Versatile Champion and scored a 197 out of 200 possible points in Iowa, September 2014 at the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association Invitational. Blitz is available for stud to approved females.
